Yvonne Ridley wrote an article on pop culture, mainly criticising Sami Yusuf and other 'Nasheed artist', dubbing them as 'popsters' and 'Islamic Boybands.' Well, she was mainly putting forth her opinions, but can you imagine the response from the 'victims' of her article? [note the article has been in wide circulation]
Sami Yusuf wrote back to her, praising her for voicing her opinions (I think), yet at the same time criticising heruse of language etc etc. As well as placing lame excuses for what he does, the letter was very long, though I must admit, after reading the first 4 paragraphs I skimmed the rest of the letter.
Anyway, I think that Yvonne was on the right lines, but then again that's MY opinion. Everyone is entitled to one right?

I know I'm not a History person, but just thought I'd write some..seeing as it is a bit random for me!
Dayam, am about 4 days late! Right, this is an extremely important day for Bengalis. It was recognised as an internatial day by UNESCO in 1999, if memory serves me correct.
Dope! Some of you reading this probably won't know what ekushey stands for!
Okies here goes...
Ekushey stands for 21, the significance of which relates to the 21st February of 1952. The importance of this day is that Bengalis were able to keep the right of being able to speak their own mother tongue, following a bill being passed for the national language to be Urdu. Bangladesh was EastPakistan (if my geography here is wrong, someone please correct me) and the nation was economically worse off than West Pakistan.
However, the languages were different as Urdu was spoken in West Pakistan, and Bengali was spoken in East Pakistan.
What started off as a peaceful procession by university students from Dhaka, ended up in bloodshed as guns were fired at the students by anticipating government members.
However, we have retained the right to speak Bangla, just not many people realise this. Some people go out of their way to forget history. But it can't be forgotten.

well...I'm feeling a bit funny...you can't really blame me, bunged up with a cold..felt rotten when I woke up..but still went to uni coz we were being assessed today...at least I got marked in..so 20% of the microbiology modules sorted..easy peasy...
Have developed a taste for reading books by Anthony Horowitz lately...he writes the best books..honest...you should read the Alex Rider series...THEY ROCK!! (",)
It's really weird..because I used to be a right bookworm in school...but now I don't seem to have the time..and when I do..I seem to be really picky...:S...but oh well...you win some you lose some..
